About Crystal Santana

Celtic and folk music, rooted in classical training, shaped by culture, travel, and community.

Crystal is a violinist based in Southern California. Influenced by her Mexican heritage and her upbringing in North Carolina, she grew up surrounded by a wide mix of musical traditions that shaped her versatility and her passion for connection through music.

She began studying violin at age four and spent her middle and high school years immersed in music through both the Greensboro Symphony Youth Orchestra and the Walker Street Fiddlers. As a high school student, she had the opportunity to travel to Europe with the Greensboro Symphony Youth Orchestra, performing in Salzburg and Vienna, Austria, and in Berchtesgaden, Germany. These experiences included performing in historic spaces and participating in a sectional with a member of the Berlin Philharmonic.

Crystal graduated high school from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, an audition-based classical conservatory program, where she received rigorous training in violin performance. Her classical foundation continues to inform her technique, musicality, and approach to performance.

In 2007, as a middle school student, Crystal first traveled to Ireland with the Walker Street Fiddlers. That experience sparked a lasting relationship with Irish music, musicians, and community—one she has continued to nurture over the years and that remains central to her life and work.

Today, Crystal performs as a soloist, with the Celtic/folk trio Meself, Himself & Herself (MHH Trio), and with the six-piece band The Fenians — Celtic Heart with a Rock ’N’ Roll Soul.

Her work centers on live performance and shared musical experiences across concert venues, festivals, and cultural events in the United States and abroad.

She now tours Ireland regularly with the MHH trio and The Fenians, offering curated, music-centered travel experiences. Through these journeys, they share a beloved, hidden and musical Ireland with those who choose to join.

Crystal is available for select performances, festivals, recordings, and collaborations.
